Oil Product Processing Specialist

The Hydropothecary is a licensed producer of medical marijuana, which is sold legally and directly to patients with a prescription from their doctor through our company website. Founded in 2013, Hydropothecary aims to provide Canadians with quality products and an exceptional customer service experience.

We are currently seeking an Oil Product Processing Specialist who will be responsible for the extraction, blending, diluting and packaging of medical cannabis oil, as well as completing all required documentation. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Preparing and operating extraction machinery;
  • Blending bulk cannabis oils to produce a finished oil dilution;
  • Working with the Quality Assurance team to submit samples for analysis;
  • Entering production and analysis data into an oil production database, and ensuring said database is accurate and updated at all times;
  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment, utensils and facilities used in the process;
  • Adhering to safe and sanitary working procedures and practices at all times;
  • Assisting the Dry Product processing team as required.

The ideal candidate holds a diploma in science and experience working in a laboratory environment since this position requires strong attention to detail and strict adherence to written Standards Operating Procedure. Organization skills, demonstrated record keeping abilities and proficiency with MS Office are essential. An understanding of Health Canada’s Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is an asset. Bilingualism is also an important asset.

Quality Assurance Manager

The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for the administration and management of all aspects of Hydropothecary’s quality assurance and quality Control programs. The incumbent understands, promotes, educates on and enforces compliance requirements for GMP, ACMPR, and all other applicable regulations and/or standards. He/She develops and maintains relationships with regulatory bodies and works with internal teams to ensure execution and compliance with quality assurance requirements.

  • Fulfill Quality Person In Charge (QPIC) responsibilities under the ACMPR:
  • Develop, implement and ensure efficiency of a Quality Assurance System for all cultivation, harvest, processing and packaging activities. Monitor process control points and take measures to eliminate deviations;
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Acts and Regulations, including the ACMPR;
  • Manage internal and external audits for GMP and QA. This includes addressing issues, preparing response reports and regulatory submissions;
  • Oversee the development and execution of SOPs, ensure training of all staff who work/circulate within the production areas;
  • Conduct periodic inspections, assess risks, resolve complex issues and ensure implementation of risk elimination and/or mitigation solutions;
  • Work closely with the Senior Person In Charge (SPIC) and Responsible Person In Charge (RPIC), act as main point of contact for Health Canada for all Quality Assurance-related compliance issues;
  • Track customer complaints, in both type and frequency, in collaboration with the Customer Experience Manager. Provide guidance and support to Customer Service with respect to customer complaints, including but not limited to adverse effect reports. Work with internal teams to address issues and deviations, conduct root-cause investigations, develop Corrective and Preventative Actions, and ensure timely closure of issues;
  • Monitor supplier performance. Work with Operations and Cultivation to resolve quality issues with production inputs;
  • Work closely with Operations and other internal teams on change management, ensuring compliance with GMP and QA standards throughout the process;
  • Ensure integrity of live and dried plant population in all Hydropothecary facilities, including oversight of annual and semi-annual inventories. Investigate variances and reconciliations;
  • Promote a zero-tolerance policy for non-compliance with the Office of Controlled Substances regulations. Follow-up on deviations and apply corrective actions, working with HR and Managers on disciplinary measures as required;
  • Hire, train and manage the Quality Assurance team members;
  • Stay up-to-date on industry standards and best practices in an effort to continually improve processes and efficiency;
  • Play an active role in other projects, such as ISO certifications.

Requirements:

  • University Degree in Biology, chemistry or another related field. Master’s and/or PhD preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in quality assurance functions, including experience within a supervisory role. Experience in agri-food industry or pharmaceutical industry is an asset.
  • Bilingualism (French and English, verbal and written) is required;
  • Advanced knowledge of GMP is required, while knowledge of the ACMPR is an important asset;
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail;
  • Strong communication abilities, interpersonal skills, team player;
  • Proficient with MS-Suite/G-Suite software. Experience with an ERP an important asset.
Human Resources Advisor

The Hydropothecary is a licensed producer of medical marijuana, which is sold legally and directly to patients with a prescription from their doctor through our company website or via our 24/7 call center. Founded in 2013, Hydropothecary aims to provide Canadians with quality products and an exceptional customer service experience.

We are currently seeking a Human Resources Advisor to join our expanding team. Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Advisor will develop and implement Human Resources programs and policies, advise employees at all levels on HR-related matters and support recruitment efforts as Hydropothecary continues its rapid expansion.

He/she will be expected to:

  • Development and implement various programs and policies;
  • Provide on-going support and coaching to managers and employees: respond to queries, advise on internal policies, ensure compliance with employment standards and best practices, advise on the resolution of employee relation matters;
  • Participate in a full Pay Equity Exercise and ensure on-going maintenance of Pay Equity as the company continues to expand;
  • Coordinate the performance management program, work with managers to address performance issues as required;
  • Participate in full-cycle recruitment activities: work with managers to identify staffing requirements, screen candidates, conduct interviews, complete reference checks and on-board new hires;
  • Coordinate activities of and participate in the Joint Health and Safety Committee;
  • Manage CNESST claims, as required;

Packaging Expert

The Hydropothecary Corporation is seeking a talented individual to join our Operations team in the role of Packaging Expert. This full-time position is located at our Gatineau, Quebec facility.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the suitable candidate will collaborate with cross functional teams to develop innovative products and packaging in compliance with regulatory/technical requirements. He/she will be responsible for researching new packaging options, evaluating these ideas from a market and financial standpoint and seeing them through from concept to reality.

The ideal candidate must have a working knowledge of manufacturing, product design, customer needs, changing cost of material as well as political laws and regulations that affect primary and secondary packaging of specialized medical marijuana products.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Research and identify new emerging market trends;
  • Analyze features, pricing, and competitiveness in the market place and apply learnings to existing product lines to identify opportunities for improvement and/or cost reduction;
  • Find innovative solutions to recurring technical issues;
  • Design new packaging assortments with specifications unique to each line of product and unique to each market, as per governmental rules and regulations; source/create prototypes;
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineer to evaluate technical feasibility, costing, etc.;
  • Work with QA to validate technical specifications and ensure packaging conforms to regulatory requirements;
  • Communicate with the marketing department to initiate sourcing/development, testing, audits, costs and lead times and ensure that any potential issues are resolved;
  • Generate and communicate all packaging sourcing requests to buyers, including: technical specifications, cosmetic details, and governmental law and regulation standards;

Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:

  • Candidates must have a bachelor degree in Industrial Design or another related field;

Facilities Specialist

We are currently seeking a Facilities Specialist who will report to the Facilities and Security Manager. The Facilities Specialist will work closely with other Facilities staff to ensure the overall upkeep of our installations, maintain production equipment and ensure a safe work environment. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Respond to various requests to repair or replace fixtures and/or equipment. This includes requests such as installing or moving furniture and equipment, drywall repair and painting, minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilating, plumbing and electrical systems;
  • Participate in the development of a maintenance schedule and ensure preventative maintenance of equipment such as HVAC systems, production machinery and building components.
  • Liaise with licensed service providers as required for specific maintenance or installation projects.
  • Conduct workplace inspections to ensure all equipment and workspaces are safe and up to Code, identify and eliminate (whenever possible) Occupational Health and Safety risks.
  • This is a full-time, permanent position which offers excellent benefits.

    The ideal candidate holds a professional diploma or technical degree pertaining to HVAC systems, mechanical maintenance or other related field, combined with a few years’ relevant experience. Vice-President of Marketing

As Vice-President of Marketing for the Hydropothecary, you’ll have the opportunity to develop and lead market positioning, branding, and market intelligence for one of Canada’s largest Licensed Producers of medical marijuana as it prepares for the upcoming legalization of cannabis for adult-use.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Vice-President of Marketing will be responsible for the development and execution of Hydropothecary’s B2B and B2C marketing strategy and oversee branding, multi-channel product marketing and market research activities. She/he provides overall leadership and guidance to the marketing function and all its specialities.

  • As part of the senior management team, provide advice and insight into the corporate strategy;
  • Develop and execute a marketing strategy that aligns with corporate goals and objectives.
  • Transition Hydropothecary’s current brand from the medical purposes to the adult-use market – Lead the brand story and vision. Establish brand guidelines and ensure consistency on all consumer facing materials and corporate communications.
  • Oversee the continued development of the company’s brand and brand reputation strategy. Continually grow brand awareness among key consumer cohorts;
  • Develop and oversee execution of product marketing initiatives in Quebec and the rest of Canada, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements while consistently growing market shares. This includes new product launches, B2B/B2C marketing, digital and traditional medias;
  • Develop a measuring system and key performance indicators to evaluate the success of each marketing program/initiative. Report to Senior Management on activities and results;
  • Oversee the development and on-going maintenance of market intelligence, refining consumer demographics and cannabis market knowledge. Develop a competitive benchmark;
  • Identify trends and new opportunities for diversity and market growth. Work closely with R&D team.
  • Work closely with the Communications team on public relations and social media strategies and campaigns;

  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in branding and product marketing, including experience managing a team of professionals covering multiple specialties. Experience at the national level is required while experience in international markets is an important asset.
  • Experience in marketing within a highly regulated environment, such as alcohol, food or pharmaceutical industries, is an important asset;
  • Demonstrated track record of success across marketing activities for both brand and product focused campaigns - advertising, public relations, digital marketing, product launch, etc.

Accounting Clerk

We are currently seeking an Accounting Clerk who will report to the Controller. The Accounting Clerk will provide accounting and clerical support to the Accounting department. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Create, prepare, and maintain accounting documents and records;
  • Reconcile accounts in a timely manner;
  • Enter key data of financial transactions daily;
  • Research, track and restore accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies;
  • Compile reports/summaries on activity areas;
  • Prepare and make bank deposits, general ledger postings, and statements;
  • Manage and coordinate incoming and out going mail accounts which includes both the company’s post office and email inbox;
  • Coordinate the approval of purchase requisitions and invoices;
  • Ensure vendor invoices are being filled correctly and consistently;
  • Ensure signed contracts are filled in both our paper file cabinets and electronically;

Accountant

We are currently seeking an Accountant to join our Corporate Services team. Reporting to the Controller, the Accountant will support all finance department activities: accounts receivable, accounts payable, month/year end routines and financial reporting. Among other things, he/she will:

  • Maintain general ledger balance sheet accounts by reconciling accounts details and control accounts.
  • Identify, investigate, analyze and report on account variances.
  • Adjust general ledger balances by posting and/or adjusting journal entries, and prepare monthly working papers.
  • Monitor the general ledger for accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Adhere to and promote accounting controls by following policies and procedures, complying with federal, provincial, and local financial legal requirements.
  • Participate in the preparation of quarter end/ year end working papers and close routines.
  • Provide support to the financial reporting function by documenting complete and concise variance analysis into their working papers.
  • Assist with preparation and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Recommend improvements for gathering, summarizing and reporting financial information.

Marketing Assistant

The Hydropothecary Corporation is seeking a talented individual to join our Operations team in the role of Marketing Assistant. This full-time position is located at our Gatineau, Quebec facility.

Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the suitable candidate will assist the manager in her daily administrative and marketing activities at Hydropothecary. The successful incumbent will assist in the preparation and the execution of the Hydropothecary marketing strategy and prepare proposals and support material.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Provide assistance related to promotions and strategic communications;
  • Follow-up medias, news and trends in the industry and report monthly;
  • Work with other members of the Marketing team to coordinate activities and to complete assign projects;

Production Planner

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Planner is responsible of coordinating the planning of production and optimizing production performance with respect to delays, costs, quality, and health and safety. The ideal candidate has 3 years or more experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate all production activities;
  • Prepare production planning and evaluate needs and capacity
  • Prepare and communicate production schedules;
  • Ensure respect of production delays;
  • Work closely with Shipping and Purchasing to coordinate activities of goods (incoming/outgoing), assuring a continuous flow from production to order fullfilment with respect to delays;
  • Define and determine trends, proceed with all required planning analysis to identify any issues;
  • Optimize inventory of products and make required follow-ups;
  • Maintain Key Performance Indicators (“KPIs”) et analyse discrepancies;

Financial Reporting Specialist

The Financial Reporting Specialist will prepare financial reporting documents, maintain reports, monitor transactions and assist with investor relations initiatives.   • Prepare external financial reporting documents: financial statements, MD&A, AIF, MIC, etc.;
  • Assist the Manager of Financial Reporting and Investor Relations in securities compliance;

Hydropothecary is a licensed producer and distributor of Medical Marijuana under Health Canada’s Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulation. Our company has been and continues to undergo tremendous growth as we prepare for the upcoming adult-use market.

Reporting to their Project Management team, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, inspecting, adjusting, and repairing equipment while following safety rules and regulations. You will be required to maintain all equipment to required standards and be responsive to production needs and equipment failures. Though the employee’s focus will be on new facility construction, he/she will be required to work closely with the Facilities team on upkeep and modification of existing buildings and equipment. You work as part of a team but would routinely perform work independently and maintain a high level of accuracy and safety, while performing your duties.

Shift: Monday-Friday, day shift (weekends and Night Shift as needed)

Responsibilities

  • Installing machinery and equipment according to layout plans using hand and power tools; Adjusting machinery and repairing or replacing defective parts; Ensuring operating devices function properly on completion of repairs, modifications and installations;
  • Inspecting and examining machinery and equipment to detect irregularities and malfunctions;
  • Operating machine to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up of machinery and new requirement;
  • Maintaining machinery and tools as specified in operational manual;
  • Participating in the preventive maintenance program on all equipment for continuous improvement of all machines;
  • Keeping detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation;
  • Cleaning, lubricating and performing other routine maintenance work on machinery;
  • Adhering to workplace safety policies, regulation;
  • Maintaining a clean and environmentally safe work area;
  • Performing other related duties as assigned;

Requirements

Professional or college diploma in industrial maintenance or related field, with experience within a manufacturing/industrial setting., Red seal experience is an asset. Must possess a valid ASP Construction card. Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills allowing one to work effectively in a diverse working environment. Able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing in French and English is an asset. Working knowledge of safety standards of equipment. Experience using programmable logic controller is an asset. Experience of MIG and Stick welding. Ability to work independently without supervision and meet tight deadlines. Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally. Ability to work in a team environment. Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots and tools as required

Manufacturing Engineer

The Hydropothecary Corporation is a licensed producer of medical marijuana, which is sold legally and directly to patients with a prescription from their doctor through our company website or 24/ 7 call center. We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team as we work on a 250,000-square foot expansion and prepare for the upcoming adult-use market.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Manufacturing Engineer will develop and improve manufacturing processes, applying best practices and get required buy-in from all stakeholders. He/she will be responsible for planning workflow and training production team members to maximize efficiency and quality. He/she will also be responsible for the development and implementation of maintenance programs of new machinery and equipment, ensuring continued optimal efficiency.

This is a full-time, permanent position which offers a competitive salary and benefits.

Among other things, the Manufacturing Engineer will:

  • Plan and design production area layouts.
  • Research and/or study new machinery and production area layouts, recommending efficient combinations.
  • Design, develop, implement and troubleshoot new and existing manufacturing processes.
  • Collect and compile operational data. Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements and equipment layout.
  • Draft and/or update SOPs, liaise with QA to obtain approval and train staff on work instructions to ensure repeatability.
  • Support decision-making by calculating production, labor and material costs;
  • Conduct studies of the reliability and performance of equipment/machinery and production systems/processes;
  • Develop preventative maintenance standards, schedules and programs for new equipment;
  • Conduct studies to enhance industrial health and safety or to identify and correct hazards upon recommendation from the Joint Health and Safety Committee;
  • Maintain product and company reputation by complying with government regulations and quality assurance requirements.

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • University Degree in Industrial and/or Manufacturing Engineering;
  • Member in good standing of Order of Engineers of Quebec (or equivalent regulatory body);
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a manufacturing setting;
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with complexity in a fast-paced environment, exceptional organizational skills with task prioritization and time-management abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Bilingualism (French and English) is an important asset.
  • In-depth knowledge of GMPs is required, while knowledge of the ACMPR is an important asset.

Candidates must be available to work at our Gatineau facility, located in the Masson-Anger area. Candidates must not have a legal impediment to employment.
